M83 on a roll

M83‘s music is popping up everywhere these days and we couldn’t be more thrilled!

“Midnight City” was the official song of Euro 2012 (the European soccer tournament which just ended yesterday) on the French network TF1…

“Outro” is being used in Red Bull’s latest advertising campaign…

and next up on the agenda, M83’s Anthony Gonzalez will bring his talents to the big screen…

Gonzalez is composing the score to Joseph Kosinski’s new sci-fi film, Oblivion, starring Tom Cruise as the leading role. It seems that Kosinski has an affinity for French artists, as he previously directed Tron: Legacy whose score was composed by Daft Punk. As quoted in a Pitchfork article, Gonzalez told the Playlist that he is more than ready to take on the major  project: “I’m not afraid to do my first soundtrack on a big Hollywood movie, with a big budget and a lot of pressure… I like challenges and it excites me more than frightens me.” Shooting for Oblivion will begin soon and the film should be out in theaters next April.
