LOUIS BERTIGNAC (MY MAJOR)
Louis Bertignac made a name for himself on the international music scene as guitarist with the legendary French rock group Téléphone. If, in the 70’s and 80’s, Téléphone were the French equivalent of The Rolling Stones, then Bertignac was the definitive Gallic version of Keith Richards … but all good things come to an end and when Téléphone split in 1986, Bertignac took on the role of Lonesome Guitar Man, launching a successful career as a solo musician
BEN L’ONCLE SOUL (MOTOWN FRANCE)
Ben L’Oncle Soul grew up to the beat of Motown. Scouted by Motown France, his considerable talent led him to open for big names in contemporary soul, such as Musiq Soulchild, Raphael Saadiq and India Arie who invited him on stage to perform. On his album, brass instruments and the melodies of Motown dance effortlessly without missing a beat, while his flamboyant interpretations introduces audiences to the intersection of soul music and French language.
THE TWO (WAGRAM)
The Two’s music feels like an invitation to dream in their own secret garden. Ara and David are seemingly rediscovering the magic of uncluttered melody, primary sound colors and simple words, all underlined with strength and elegance by their vocal harmony. As though improvised, The Two’s music speaks with a rare natural voice.
MAIA VIDAL (CRAMMED DISCS)
Maïa Vidal uses violins, accordion, guitar, percussion, toy instruments and her distinctive, moving voice to compose and arrange her own unique music. She blends modern, confident songwriting with shades of old world melodies, and takes us on a journey that is at once sweet and painfully honest, yet never loses its sense of wonderment
