Coachella

Though tickets are currently sold out for one of the world’s most-hyped annual music events, those who can make it to Coachella will be pleased to know that a diverse number of French Artists from the famous DJ Laurent Garnier to the up-and-coming indie sensation Woodkid will grace the Indio, California stage. Here’s an early primer on French Coachella:

Aron Ottignan, on world tour with Woodkid (with whom he’ll appear at Coachella), Aron offers a compelling hybrid of jazz, blues, dance, and electro that has landed him on top of the French charts with Stromae’s “Papaoutai”. Guardian Music describes his music as: “big gestures, fat sounds and monster grooves”.

Caravan Palace is an unusual yet hypnotic mix of electro beats and gypsy swing instruments that has already taken Europe by storm and is currently raging across North America on a major tour.

Carbon Airways is the amazing union of two young siblings under 20 who’ve been creating, dark, intense, & dance-worthy music for at least three years. They’ve already played Miami’s Ultra Music Festival, Transmusicales de Rennes and have signed to the Polydor / Universal France label.

DJ Falcon is a renowned French producer & DJ known for his work with Thomas Bangalter in the group Together. Falcon also appeared on 2013’s major success Random Access Memories.

Laurent Garnier a pioneering French DJ whose early work in the Acid House movement of Manchester paved the way for what’s been one of the most illustrious careers in electro, garnering him the only French short-list in International DJ’s “Best DJ of all Time.”

Rone is among the most acclaimed French electro artists today, combining a ‘melodic straightforwardness with the firmly harnessed power of analog soundscapes.’ On tour now.

Woodkid, before becoming one of the most-acclaimed and cinematic French acts on the international scene, was also a graphic-designer and music video director.
