Gabi Hartmann First American Tour
Gabi Hartmann’s elegant blend of folk, pop, jazz, and soul has captivated audiences worldwide. Hartmann now brings her dreamlike world to the U.S. and Canada for her first American tour. She will sing in English, French, and Portuguese.
To celebrate the launch of her first tour in the U.S. and Canada, Hartmann returns with an expanded version of her poetic and cinematic second album, La femme aux yeux de sel (The Girl with Salt Eyes) — including 5 new tracks February 27. She tells the story of Salinda’s travels, struggles with vulnerability, the melancholy that lingers, anger at a troubled world, suffering, anxiety, and ultimately, the wonder of nature’s healing embrace.
The character of Salinda is influenced by “Rumba des îles” from Marguerite Duras’ film India Song (co-composed and arranged with Oan Kim). The album as a whole reflects the countries Gabi has lived in and pays tribute to influential women Mamady Keïta, Mercedes Sosa, and Miriam Makeba — a longtime inspiration for Gabi. It is also the result of remarkable collaborations. Other works have honored Khalil Farhan’s “Azza Fi Hawak” and Léona Garbriel’s “Maladie d’amour“.
