Celebrate Angélique Kidjo’s 40 years in music at Carnegie Hall November 2nd

The final celebration of Angélique Kidjo’s 40 years in music and activism will be at Carnegie Hall on November 2nd. It will reflect the history of music and the world itself as the influence of the works covered in African Symphony connect to her own classics that draw from genres across the globe. African Symphony, with arrangements by Derrick Hodge, honors legends like Miriam Makeba, Fela Kuti, Youssou N’Dour, and Cesaria Evora; and recognizes younger talents like Rema, Burna Boy, among others. Angélique Kidjo has also covered songs by Celia Cruz and with Santana.

With her will be Baaba Maal, Nile Rodgers, The Color of Noize Orchestra, and more*. Who better? Baaba Maal is the world-renowned, world-traveling singer, composer, guitarist, and humanitarian representing the Fouta town of Podor, Senegal. He was asked to be The Voice of Wakanda. Nile Rodgers is one of the most influential American guitarists, songwriters, and producers of the last 50 years. Have you heard “Le Freak (C’est Chic)”, “We Are Family”, and “The Wild Boys”? Let’s celebrate (click the flyer below for tickets) …
