Catch an uncommon treat for New York music fans and Francophiles alike when French pop sensation, Olivia Ruiz, stops in New York for a performance at Le Poisson Rouge on storied Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village. A Franco-Spanish singer, Olivia Ruiz first caught the French public’s attention on the hugely popular TV talent search show, “Star Academy” (like the American Idol of France). Ruiz is unique for catching not only popular attentions, but also winning the adoration of countless in the music industry.
Since appearing the show, Ruiz has released seven albums, and in 2007, her album La Femme Chocolat earned her the title of Female Artist of the Year. Far from the typical pop star, Ruiz makes songs that are playful, sprightly, and unconventionally orchestrated. She appears in New York at Le Poisson Rouge on May 7th at 10:30 PM. Doors open at Ten.
