New Asaf Avidan Video: “Over My Head”, Album in January
Fresh from the studio, Israeli folk rock singer-songwriter Asaf Avidan returns with this video of countryside outlaw runaways for “Over My Head” the first single to his album Gold Shadow, due for worldwide release January 19th, 2015. That album promises to “dissect the fears and difficulties of feeling truly safe in a relationship”.
Written on a rainy day in a small apartment in Paris, “Over My Head” recalls one night that occurred 5 years earlier. That sleepless night sparked the relationship that still remains today between Asaf and his girlfriend/partner in life. “It was the night when I put my old demons to sleep, and decided to choose life… Till this day I’m amazed that she had the patience for my stupidity, and this is my way to say thank you…Thank you for leaving the door open”
Asaf is famous in Israel, where he earned gold records with his band the Mojos and known worldwide for his breakthrough hit “Reckoning Song” which has garnered 140 million + Youtube views for its Wankelmut remix. Beyond his chart success and international tours, Asaf Avidan has floored music folk like NPR’s Bob Boilen, who describes the singer’s voice as miraculously, “part Janis Joplin, part Nina Simone”. You can see a video of Asaf’s Tiny Desk Concert at NPR from earlier in the year here.
