Biography

Tony was born in 1986. From Martinique (french west indies), he begins three years in the percussion class of musical awakening. Tony occurs early stage, in effect five years, the theater, he plays the role of practitioners in the play “Caligula” by Albert Camus. Then he enters the theater of his father in which he played several roles until adolescence.

At 6 years he returned to class at the conservatory of classical piano. Tony also begins very early and dance from his seven years he joined the Afro jazz dance company “Fusion” with which it will occur regularly on stage.

It will then follow a course in music-study class timetables (CHAM) to intensive practice in music at the conservatory. There will study choral music, the classical harmony and counterpoint, the writing and composition, and piano. He obtained his DEA in 12 years of musical training (cum laude) and his 14 years of classical piano DFE in the class of Pascal Gallet. He began studying jazz with Didier Levallet then Malo Vallois, then he studied at the famous “Bill Evans Piano Academy” in Paris.

From his 17 years Tony will start collaborations with renowned musicians. Thus it plays in the first part of Dee dee Bridgewater, Michel camilo, Marcus Miller, McCoy Tyner, Elvin Jones, Bireli Lagrene, Manu di Bango, Monty Alexander, Archie Shep, he surrounds himself with trumpeter Nicolas GENEST a project in quintet .

Recently he was the pianist and saxophonist Walt Weiskopf Europeen in his sextet. In 2008 he joined the trio of Brian Melvin (drums Jaco Pastorius, Mike Stern, BeatleJazz). Tony also collaborates with saxophonist Myron Walden renowned and plays in several jazz clubs of New York in the Quintet of his brother Scott Tixier. Tony is also an arranger and musical director in the group Stephane KOCHOYAN.

In 2007 Tony won the jazz competition “the trophies of Sunside” he received the first prize for her performance in the Scott Tixier Quintet concert broadcast on Radio France (Claude emission Jazzclub CAREER).

In 2010, Tony Tixier released “Parallel Worlds”, a first self-produced album in which we can already see his writing skills. In pursuit of his musical quest, and hard worker in the look meek, it multiplies the musical experiences between Paris and New York, in the most improbable places and with musicians from diverse backgrounds. Recently he has toured in Russia and Poland with Brian Melvin (drums Jaco Pastorius), or it has been heard in a trio with Jerome Regard and Louis Moutin.

His special relationship with New York explains the genesis of the album DREAM PURSUIT, recorded at the end of the first French tour of his new quartet – especially with the fantastic saxophonist Logan Richardson and rhythmic shock device consisting of Earl Travis Burniss II on bass and Justin Brown on drums.

He has performed in many festivals and jazz clubs: Paris Jazz Festival (Floral Park), Orleans Jazz Festival, Jazz in Vauvert, Lamentin Jazz Festival, Jazz Festival Nimes, Festival of Children’s Jazz. In New York at clubs such as Cachaca Jazz Club, Williamsburg Music Center, in Paris: the Sunset / Sunside, salty kiss, The Archipelago, the Mezzanine .

He played with musicians like Lawrence Cugny, Myron Walden, Brian Melvin, Justin Brown, Logan Richardson, Louis Moutin, Jerome Regard, Kendrick Scott, Walt Weiskopf, Stephane Spira, Guillaume Naturel, Nicolas Genest, Siegfried Kessler, Cory Cox, Burniss Travis II, Diallo House, Pierrick Pedron, Alex Bernard, Manu Pekar, Stephane Kochoyan, Hermon Mehari, Ben Leifer, Ryan Lee, Alexandre Saada, Frederic Delestre, Anne PACEO, Julien Augier, Jesse Stern …
