IAM on Tour
The first French rap group to release an album, IAM have mixed rage and intelligence throughout a discography that spans three decades, all the while constantly discovering new dimensions to assure hip-hop heads in their home country that there is no need to envy the U.S.
This Hip-Hop group consisting of 5 members, Akhenaton, Shurik’n, Khéops, Imhotep, and Kephren, and incorporates themes that include the sounds of Ancient Egypt, Africa, China, Japan, India and American music. IAM’s big break came after the release of the 1997 album, L’école du micro d’argent, which eventually sold 1.5 million copies worldwide. Through IAM’s European performances, the band helped spread the popularity of French Hip-Hop infused with African rhythms mixing both rage and intelligence, and constantly discovering new dimensions for the pleasure of listeners’ ears and minds. IAM have a long history of collaborations with the American Hip Hop group, the Wu-Tang Clan.
