Biography

Gesaffelstein (born 1985 as Mike Lévy in Lyon) is a French techno artist and DJ. He has worked alongside, and remixed tracks for such artists as varied as Tiga, Miss Kittin and Lana Del Rey. He produced two tracks on Yeezus, the sixth album of American rapper Kanye West, including the lead single “Black Skinhead” and “Send It Up”, both tracks produced with West, Daft Punk, Brodinski and Mike Dean. Gesaffelstein released his debut album ALEPH on October 28, 2013 under Parlophone Records and EMI Music, which had been recorded since 2011.

Gesaffelstein is a portmanteau of Gesamtkunstwerk and Albert Einstein.

Maryland-cover1Devout followers of electro producer Gesaffelstein may have noticed an ominous countdown clock onhis website in recent months. Well the wait is up and what has it produced? The soundtrack to ‘Maryland‘, a film by Alice Winocour that recently debuted at Cannes, as per Dancing Astronaut blog.

Here’s what HarderFasterBlogger says about the film: “Directed by Alice Winocour, Maryland is about an ex-soldier with PTSD (post traumatic stress syndrome) who is hired to protect the wife and child of a wealthy Lebanese businessman while he’s out of town. Despite the apparent tranquility on Maryland, Vincent perceives an external threat.” Read their review here

Hyperion

Hyperion Gesaffelstein’s last album featuring The Weeknd and Pharrell Williams, has been released on Friday, March 8th.

Last November, Columbia Records artist Gesaffelstein celebrated the 5 years anniversary of his Parlophone/Bromance album Aleph. In Paris, New York and Los Angeles, mysterious posters were put up followed by a video clip posted on line announcing the artist’s come back.

Within the last weeks, Gesaffelstein has been highly active on the social networks. It started with the release of Reset, an awesome new song, followed by Lost in the Fire featuring The Weeknd. Finally, this week, a cool electro dark song came out, Blast Off, with vocals by Pharell Williams.
